by Bryan

Ex- BRC Challenge winning driver is looking for a contributing co-driver for this coming season.

The contribution required is entry fee and your notes and the car is a 210bhp Nova.

Are you up for the challenge and could we have a number of RallyMatcher members competing on the BTRDA in 2012?

ANWCC Tarmac Rally Championship – 2.5 Sunbeam

January 2nd, 2012
by Bryan

Are you looking for a competitive seat on the ANWCC this year?

I have just a had a long chat with a driver who is looking to win the championship this year in his newly built 2.5 litre Sunbeam, the car is replacing his self built RWD Micra. Do you have the same ambition to be a championship winning co-driver?

The deal is very simple, eight or nine rounds of the ANWCC and co-driver to cover the entry fees. Ideally looking for a co-driver for the whole season but if this isn’t possible will consider a couple of co-drivers to share the seat.

Link for website below and also a picture of the old car, just because it’s something different.

If you’re interested please get in touch.

REIS Get Connected Tarmac Championship

December 22nd, 2011

REIS Get Connected Tarmac Rally ChampionshipA friend of mine has contacted me as he’s looking for a co-driver for this coming season.

He’s looking at doing the REIS Tarmac Championship in his 1400cc Class B9 Vauxhall Astra Mk2. Car was a new build this year and did Rally Barbados (3rd in class M5 – 1400cc) and Woodbridge stages (4th in class A – 1400cc). Previously he’s rallied Novas, Mk2 Astra etc.

He is looking for someone who will be reliable, consistant and most importantly, someone who likes to have some fun. Contribution required would be entry fees paid and own expenses but he’ll cover all car costs – tyres, fuel, tow costs etc.

He has previously won some class awards on various events but has never done a championship so is looking to learn and progress.

The events he is planning on doing are as follows.

Tour of Epynt 11th March
Jim Clark National Rally 1st June
Rally of the Midlands 22nd June
Tyneside Stages 12th August
Mewla National Rally 26th August
Patriot Stages Rally 30th September
Cheviot Rally 4th November TBA

BTRDA 2012 – Peugeot 205 1.6

November 27th, 2011
by Bryan

A driver has approached me in preparation for next season.

He is looking to initially compete on the Wyedean, Plains, Dukeries and Woodpecker with possibly other events being added as the year progresses.

A contribution is required of between 30 and 50% of entry fee, and to cover your own costs but not the notes as the driver wishes to study the DVD prior to each event.

The driver is happy to take a novice or an old hand as long as they understand how it should be done.

If you are interested get in contact in the normal manner.

Dukeries – Back In The Points

June 14th, 2011
by Bryan

Just a quick post, Boyd and I had a successful weekend on the Dukeries with a second in class and third two wheel drive behind Indy 500 Winner, Kenny Brack and current BTRDA and MSA English Rally Championship class leader, Alan McDowall.

The rally wasn’t without drama for us before it even started with an early morning rush for us from Berkshire to Essex to visit Mountune and have an engine misfire diagnosed and resolved.

After SS4 the car lost all power just as we hit the road for the run back to service and saw us stop on the road with the car refusing to restart. This was finally diagnosed as a failed relay for the fuel pump and we made it back to service having used just four minutes of lateness.

The second half of the event was relatively plain sailing with just a few moments on the fast but slippy forest tracks in and around the National Forest.

Our next outing is the Quinton, based in Builth Wells.

The day after the Dukeries saw me acting as Deputy Clerk of the Course at the Abingdon Car-nival a very wet event but it saw a number of Rally Matcher members competing and hopefully enjoying themselves in the very challenging conditions.

Severn Valley – The Flying Kiwi has his wings clipped.

June 4th, 2011
by Bryan

Just a quick update on my rallying!

Well another event down and our first retirement of 2011.

Boyd and I were contesting the Severn Valley as it is a round of the MSA Welsh National and we were looking for a good points finish but sadly it wasn’t to be with a mechanical retirement just before the arrival control of the sixth and final stage. Unfortunately the fuel pump gave up the ghost and as we only run one pump we were unable to continue.

The stages were hot and dusty and I’ve never seen tyre wear like it with a pair of rears being destroyed in just over 6 miles.

Our next outing is next weekend with the Dukeries when we continue to chase BTRDA and MSA English National points in Boyds 2litre Escort. Lets hope tyre wear isn’t as bad and the weather is slightly cooler and there is less dust!

Tales from the Silly Seat – Zummerzet Stages – Fuel Schedule Done!

April 11th, 2011
by Bryan

Well it’s the Monday night before the Zummerzet Stages (Somerset Stages but you have to say it in a West Country accent) and I’ve received the maps and the schedule for the coming weekend.

This evening I’ve done the fuel schedule for the weekend. The schedule takes us from the Start to Service A, Service A to Service B and then Service B to Finish.

Over the last year I’ve calculated that The Flying Kiwi does 5 miles to the litre on the road and 1 litre to the mile on the stages. We will need 67 litres over the weekend in the rally car and this includes a 10 litre extra for emergencies (I never run without a small surplus, I could go down to 5 litres but 10 makes me feel more comfortable)

There are effectively three legs to this rally as service is visited twice as Porlock Toll Road is visited after the first group of gravel stages. Refueling will be done in the authorised refueling zone rather than in Emergency service areas so that the time given there can be used to work on the car if required rather than routine tasks.

Still to do before the weekend is complete the team information sheet, and distribute it, and prepare my road book and notes but as these haven’t arrived yet this job will have to wait for another night before the weekend.
